In this installation there are not only seals but the main task is to raise up "squealers". Unfortunately, quite often young seals are left alone by their mothers at a time where they are not yet able to feed themselves. Without any human help these animals would painfully die within a short while. The Huntsmen Association and the Community of Friedrichskoog make a point of gathering those animals and to raise them up. Once they have a certain weight and sufficient strength they will be returned to wildness. No easy task - but it's worth it.

We installed a skimmer model Helgoland 1500 and an ozone generator in order to grant the animals best water quality.

A recirculation pump with a discharge capacity of around 350 m³/h recirculates the water once in an hour.
