Aquarium Column Osterholz - Counter Hall

A very special aquarium

The Kreissparkasse Osterholz does not only provide it's visitors with money and good advice, but also with a unique experience: A Sea-Water Aquarium Column.

Diameter:

2.5 m

Height:

6 m

Water Content:

approx. 26 m3

Water Recirculation:

160 m3/h

Filter Capacity:

30 m3/h

In the centre there is a corall reef of 6 ms height that was constructed around a static solid-PVC-framework. The complete piping and filtering technique is invisible. The piping vanishes in the interiour of the static framework. The complete filtering technique is installed in the basement, e.g. one skimmer Helgoland 1000 with automatic rinsing unit and foam adjustment, collecting tank, biological filter, ozone generator, UV-system, reverse osmosis, various measuring units etc.

In the second floor the illumination is installed and there is the entrance for the divers to maintenance and clean the aquarium. This is the view of the maintenance staff down into the aquarium. In 6 m depth there are stones and fish clearly visible. The water is cristal clear. Unfortuneatly, this view is presented only few people.

Further upwards the hexagonal overflow tank can be seen. This tank takes in the water and leads it through a pipeline towards the filtering unit. There is 160 m3 water per hour recirculated. Every 30 to 60 cm throughout the complete height, there are water outlet levels with adjustable manifold nozzles.
